This article covers what to do before you update and what will look different afterwards.
IMPORTANT: Before updating, submit all active v1.x QA sessions to prevent permanent data loss and turn off automatic updates on all devices so updates occur strictly between jobs.
What's new?
1. Work Order QA Sessions
Opening a work order displays all past and active QA sessions on the device, where operators can create a single named active session whose submitted scan data remains permanently accessible company-wide.
Figure 1.1: Tap CREATE NEW SESSION and assign a recognisable reference for team continuity.
2. Production Stages & Scan Requirements
The standard 4-stage workflow remains, but stage rules have been optimized to reduce press downtime. Make Ready no longer requires scans, and once Referencing is complete, operators can transition directly to Press Run, Finishing, or both.
| Stage | Good Scans Needed | Operational Guidance & What to Expect |
| Make Ready | None (0) | Optional stage to check the press. Bad scans are ignored and will not raise alerts or stop setup. |
| Referencing | 10 | Mandatory. Sets baseline quality tolerance levels for the session. Cannot be skipped. |
| Press Run | None (As needed) | Scan periodically according to job guidelines. Failed scans raise real-time alerts. |
| Finishing | 20 | Mandatory. Distribute 20 good scans across the run. Submit button unlocks once 20 scans are recorded. |
3. Enhanced Quality Alert System
Failed scans now trigger a single clear alert categorised into one of three severity levels. Each alert displays the scanned code, Quality Index score, and tolerance thresholds so operators can pinpoint exact quality deviation.
Figure 3.1: The three alert levels (left to right: Bad Print, 2 Bad Prints in Referencing, Stop Production). Quality index and tolerance range sit directly under the code.
4. Manual Session Closure & Recovery
If a session encounters an issue at the press, the operator who originally created it can manually tap CLOSE SESSION and confirm on the Session Details screen to unlock the work order immediately without support intervention.
Figure 4.1: Tap CLOSE SESSION on the session details screen, then confirm to discard scans and free the work order.
| WARNING: Closing a session permanently discards all scan data recorded within that session. Use this feature strictly for operational troubleshooting and press recovery, not routine cleanup. |
5. Multi-Device Scanning (Finishing Stage)
Finishing requires 20 good scans, which can be time-consuming on large production runs. Version 2.0 allows a secondary registered phone to join the active session and share scan count progress.
Connection Process: On any secondary phone registered to your company, open the same work order, select the active session, and tap JOIN SESSION.
Figure 5.1: The secondary phone detects the active open session and joins it directly from the Session Details screen.
| Action / Stage | Master Phone (Creator) | Joined Phone (Secondary) |
| Make Ready / Referencing | Yes | Cannot join |
| Press Run | Yes | Can join, scans Finishing only |
| Finishing | Yes | Can join, scans Finishing |
| Submit session | Yes | Cannot submit, master phone only |
| Close / cancel session | Yes | Cannot close or cancel, master phone only |
6. Impression Tracking & Data Entry
At submit, the app asks for the total impressions for that QA session. Count everything printed from the moment the session was created until you submit it, across all phones, so if a print run is split over several sessions each one records only its own share.
Figure 6.1: Read the impression figure off the press counter and tap CONFIRM before submitting.
