In alignment with our comprehensive GS1 strategy, the e-label SaaS portal has taken a step toward GS1 Digital Link compliance. Now, users can choose to generate GS1 Digital Link codes when creating codes on the e-label SaaS portal.
To do this, you need to navigate to the QR Code tab in the e-label management tool and select the appropriate code type from the dropdown menu. Following you'll find the steps to achieve this:
1. Log in our platform
2. Then, go to the e-labels tab:
3. Click on the "edit e-label" button, selecting the product you are looking to generate the GS1 Digital Link:
Important note: If you have already published your e-label but have not as yet created a code then you will also see the "generate code" link along with the "edit e-label" button. Please only click this if you intend to generate a regular QR code:
4. Once you are in the e-label management tool, go to the QR code tab, in the panel located left side of the interface, as follows:
5. If it is the first time you are going to create the code, click on "Generate QR Code":
6. Then, select the code type, in this case: GS1 Digital Link QR Code:
7. After that option is selected, the 3 main fields of the GS1 link appear and should be filled:
It is important to mention that the:
- GTIN stands for "Global Trade Item Number." It is a unique identifier for trade items, developed by GS1. GTINs are used to identify products, services, or items in supply chains, and they play a crucial role in facilitating efficient and accurate information exchange between trading partners. The GTIN in the Scantrust context has to be a 14-digit numeric data structure, but it can also be expressed in 8, 12, or 13 digits.
- Additionally, the GS1 information is encoded via GS1 Application Identifiers (GS1 Application Identifiers (AI) which are considered as primary identification keys for GS1 Digital Link URI. In this case, we let you create two: Lot or Batch number, and the CPV (Consumer Product Variant).
- The Lot number can be typed manually or created automatically with the button located on the right side of the box:
- The CPV (Consumer Product Variant) should be numeric and could be, for instance: The vintage year
8. Finally, to generate the code, please click on the button: Generate QR Code:
NOTE: Please only follow these steps to create a GS1 Digitial Link QR Code. This type of code should be generated only, in the QR Code Subsection that is available in the e-label management tool.
